There was this UFC fight in the last week of January 2017 that the judges were shamed by their wrong decision. Marcin Held was holding his own against the veteran Joe Lauzon. Statistics said that Marcin was leading by a mile with some takedowns to boot. It was surprising when the decision was announced that Lauzon won by split decision over Held. It was crazy because in the interview, Lauzon had acknowledged that he didn’t win the fight. Isn’t that a big shame on the biased judges?

At the end of the day, when a result or verdict comes down to the opinion of others that are watching, and that effectively IS all a judge does, then there are always going to be discrepancies in the results I'm afraid. In boxing you only have to look at the amount of times the judges get the decision wrong in that, and there have been numerous occasions when a fight as been called one way when it was either a draw or the other.

What other way is there though to decide on the outcome of a fight if it doesn't end with a submission or a knockout? The fighters can't go on fighting till there's only one standing so inevitably we are always going to have judges involved in decisions, so we need to concentrate on making sure that they make the right ones.
