Balachandran, 24, was won the Mr Thoothukudi title at the district level bodybuilding contest conducted in Subramaniapuram near Sawyerpuram. The tournament, organized by Thoothukudi district Tamilan Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Association in collaboration with SVPS Bell Sports Centre, drew 151 bodybuilders from throughout the district.
The tournament was divided into ten divisions depending on the weight of the competitors. Balachandran received a gold medal as well as a monetary prize of Rs 10,000. Logeswaran of Levingipuram finished second, earning a silver medal and a monetary award of Rs 5000.
