Mina Yaghoubi, a bodybuilding coach, was sentenced to 11 years in prison, 85 lashes, and other punishments. Even though for most of the world it is 2023, in Iran it appears to be the stone Age.
On February 15, 2023, bodybuilding coach Mina Yaqhoubi posted a video clip in which she said that she had been sentenced to 8 years in prison and a two-year prohibition from residing in the city of her residence, according to a ruling issued by the Revolutionary Court. She was also condemned to three years in prison by the criminal court, after receiving 85 lashes and 124 hours of grave washing.
Mina Yaghoubi, a bodybuilding coach, stated in this video clip that her three-month silence was due to her lawyer objecting to the court verdict and hoping to reduce the punishment.
Mina Yaghoubi, 33, was reportedly arrested on November 1 during protests in Arak for throwing stones at a cemetery. She is a bodybuilding coach with a 12-year-old daughter. She was abducted outside the bodybuilding club where she works. During her detention, she was interrogated for 12 hours.
Mina Yaghoubi was freed on bond on December 1, 2022, at 3 a.m. Heavy marks around her eye indicated that she had been brutally mistreated while detained. Heavy punches to her head and forehead are alleged to have caused the bruise around her eye.
University grads are being held under undetermined conditions.
On February 8, 2023, security forces arrested Kobra Huti at her house and brought her to an unknown location.
Kobra Huti, 22, is a native of Qasr-e Qand. She earned a degree in Industrial Engineering from Khash Mines Industrial University.
Ms. Huti is suspected of disseminating posts on social media, according to sources. Thus far, there is no information about Ms. Huti's whereabouts.
There is no information available about the conditions of the other two graduate students.
Jairan Nik Peyman Motlaq was detained on September 29, 2022, in Tehran, during the Iranian rebellion. Damghan University was her Ph.D. program in animal physiology. She was also a writer and an animal rights and women's rights campaigner. Ms. Nik Peyman was transported to Qarchak Prison from Evin Prison's Intelligence Ministry Ward 209 after two weeks.
On November 15, 2022, security forces apprehended Parisa Parvaneh on Hashemiyeh Blvd. in Mashhad. They threatened Parvaneh's family not to broadcast Parisa's arrest in the hopes that she would be released, but there has been no word of her release.
Parisa Parvaneh, a 19-year-old member of the Iranian Astronomical Association, offered to assist create astronomy magazines and teach young people about astronomy online. She was ready to compete in the Olympiad this year.
