Many years later, Tamara Dronyaeva wrote about this photograph:
“My photo. My legs, my arms… my smile… oh, that thrill, that nervous excitement! History! It was wonderful! A parade of beautiful bodies and a healthy spirit!
We even sewed our swimsuits ourselves, because there was nothing available at the time (the USSR was in crisis in 1988). I cut up Polish leggings and went out to conquer the stage. It was absolutely amazing!”
