Brendan is back with episode three of his offseason series, this time joined by his coach Jake for a brutal leg day. After completing a seven-to-eight week maintenance phase post-show, Brendan is finally ready to push into a real offseason. The goal of that maintenance phase was to reset, recover, and keep calories moderate instead of rushing growth too soon. Now with bloodwork clear and appetite sky-high, food has been bumped to just under 4,000 calories on training days and about 3,500 on rest days—still leaving room to grow.

Jake emphasized that holding back early prevents wasted time later. Instead of maxing out calories too soon, Brendan is now fresh, strong, and ready to build. Early signs of progress are already visible: fuller look, better recovery, and less soreness day to day.

The leg session itself was heavy and intense—starting with curls, extensions, and then moving into compounds like squats and the pendulum. Brendan admitted it was his first proper leg day in a few weeks, but he quickly got back into rhythm. Both he and Jake pushed hard through pyramids, working sets, and brutal finishes with lunges. The pendulum squat stole the show, reminding Brendan of its effectiveness compared to his usual hack squat.

They wrapped up discussing future plans—training at different gyms to keep things fresh and experiment with new equipment. Brendan also teased that he’ll soon share more about offseason nutrition, full days of eating, and meal prep strategies to help stay organized with six meals a day.

Overall, this episode shows Brendan moving out of the “holding” phase and into true growth mode. The foundation is set, recovery is dialed in, and now the fun of building size begins.
