Brian Cage Claims Mr. Nevada Title After Winning Men's Open Bodybuilding Competition

You've probably heard Brian Cage's name in wrestling circles, but his latest accomplishment took place far away from the squared circle. The AEW star recently captured the Men's Open Bodybuilding title at the MUSCLECONTEST International Nevada Championship, earning the prestigious overall Mr. Nevada crown in the process. For an athlete already known for possessing one of professional wrestling's most impressive physiques, the victory further reinforces his reputation as a rare dual-sport competitor.

From Ring to Stage

Brian Cage Claims Mr. Nevada Title After Winning Men's Open Bodybuilding Competition

When discussing professional wrestlers who could legitimately succeed in bodybuilding, Brian Cage belongs near the very top of the list. Known to wrestling fans as "The Machine," Cage has spent years cultivating a physique that blurs the line between sports entertainment and competitive bodybuilding.

Now, he has added another major accomplishment to his résumé. Cage recently won the Men's Open division at the MUSCLECONTEST International Nevada Championship and was awarded the overall Mr. Nevada title, proving that his physique is more than just part of his wrestling persona.

The victory is particularly impressive considering Cage continues to maintain an active wrestling career with AEW while balancing the rigorous demands of contest preparation.

Brian Cage Wins the Mr. Nevada Title

Brian Cage stepped onto the stage at the MUSCLECONTEST International Nevada Championship and walked away with one of the event's highest honors. Competing in the Men's Open division, Cage showcased a combination of muscular size, conditioning, symmetry, and stage presentation that ultimately earned him both his class victory and the overall Mr. Nevada title.

The competition featured numerous experienced bodybuilders, making Cage's victory far from automatic. Despite the high level of competition, his physique stood out throughout the judging process.

Following the event, Cage celebrated the achievement on social media, calling the title another addition to his long list of accomplishments while emphasizing that being a father remains his greatest role in life.

Brian Cage's Longstanding Bodybuilding Roots

Although many fans know him primarily from AEW, Impact Wrestling, and Lucha Underground, Cage's connection to bodybuilding stretches back decades.

Long before becoming a prominent professional wrestler, Cage developed a training philosophy heavily rooted in bodybuilding principles. Throughout his wrestling career, he has consistently prioritized muscular development, symmetry, and aesthetics while still maintaining the athleticism required inside the ring.

His latest victory demonstrates that he remains capable of competing successfully against dedicated bodybuilders despite spending most of the year fulfilling wrestling obligations.

Overcoming Injuries to Reach the Stage

What makes this achievement even more remarkable is the adversity Cage has faced in recent years.

According to Cage, he returned to competition after recovering from three career-threatening surgeries. Despite those setbacks, the 42-year-old wrestler managed to bring what he described as the best physique of his life to the stage.

Recovering from major surgeries while maintaining enough muscle mass and conditioning to win an overall bodybuilding title requires extraordinary discipline. It highlights not only Cage's physical capabilities but also his resilience and dedication to training.

The Physique That Earned the Crown

Bodybuilding judges evaluate far more than sheer muscle size, and Cage delivered a complete package.

His physique displayed impressive muscularity, full muscle bellies, and sharp conditioning. Equally important was his balance and proportion, as judges reward athletes who present symmetrical development from head to toe.

The stage presentation also played a key role. Successful bodybuilders must know how to display their physiques effectively through mandatory poses and transitions. Cage's years performing in front of large audiences likely contributed to his confident stage presence.

Behind the Scenes: Contest Preparation

Preparing for a bodybuilding contest while simultaneously maintaining a wrestling schedule is exceptionally challenging.

Contest preparation typically involves months of structured resistance training, meticulous nutritional planning, cardiovascular conditioning, and recovery management. Peak week strategies often include adjustments to carbohydrate intake, hydration, sodium consumption, and overall training volume to maximize muscular fullness and definition on contest day.

For an active professional wrestler, balancing travel, matches, and recovery alongside contest prep adds another layer of complexity. Cage's success demonstrates an elite level of commitment and time management.

Understanding Bodybuilding Judging Criteria

Winning a Men's Open bodybuilding competition requires excelling in multiple categories.

Judges generally assess competitors based on:

  • Muscular size and overall development
  • Conditioning and muscular definition
  • Symmetry and proportion
  • Stage presentation and posing
Overall champions are selected based on who presents the most complete physique rather than simply the largest one. Cage's victory suggests he excelled across all major judging categories.

Reaction From Fans and the Wrestling Community

Fans from both the wrestling and bodybuilding worlds quickly celebrated Cage's accomplishment.

Social media was flooded with congratulatory messages praising his conditioning and dedication. Many wrestling fans noted that Cage has long possessed one of the most impressive physiques in the industry, making his success on a bodybuilding stage seem like a natural extension of his athletic career.

The win also further strengthens Cage's reputation as one of the few active professional wrestlers capable of competing successfully in high-level bodybuilding contests.

What This Victory Means Moving Forward

Winning the Mr. Nevada title raises questions about whether Cage could pursue additional bodybuilding competitions in the future.

Although his wrestling commitments with AEW and Ring of Honor remain substantial, this victory proves he can still compete successfully at a high level whenever he chooses to step onstage. Whether he decides to enter larger regional events, national competitions, or simply continue balancing bodybuilding alongside wrestling remains to be seen.

Regardless of his next move, Cage has once again demonstrated that he belongs among the most physically gifted athletes in professional wrestling.

More Than Wrestling

Brian Cage's latest accomplishment extends far beyond adding another trophy to his collection. By winning the Men's Open division and earning the overall Mr. Nevada title at the MUSCLECONTEST International Nevada Championship, Cage reaffirmed that his bodybuilding credentials are every bit as legitimate as his wrestling résumé.

At 42 years old and after overcoming multiple serious surgeries, Cage continues to defy expectations. Whether inside an AEW ring or under bodybuilding stage lights, "The Machine" continues proving that elite performance and relentless dedication can still produce extraordinary results.

Congrats to Brian Cage. A lot of wrestling fans know him for his size and athleticism, but stepping on a bodybuilding stage is a completely different challenge. You can't rely on charisma or strength there—the judges only care about the physique you bring that day.

Winning the overall Mr. Nevada title says he showed up in condition, not just big. That's what impressed me most. Plenty of pro wrestlers have incredible physiques, but very few are lean enough or balanced enough to do well in an actual bodybuilding show.

I'd be interested to see if he decides to do more NPC or even national-level shows. He obviously has the muscle, but bodybuilding is all about refining the details from one contest to the next. If he enjoys the process and keeps improving his conditioning, it'll be fun to see how far he takes it.

Either way, it's always good to see someone from another strength sport give bodybuilding the respect it deserves instead of assuming size alone is enough.
