Development on Duke Nukem Forever (DNF) was first publicly announced in April 1997, and promotional information for the game was released in one form or another in each of 1997, 1998, 2001, 2007, and 2008. After repeatedly announcing and deferring release dates for the game, 3D Realms announced publicly in 2001 that DNF would be released simply "when it's done".

They started development back then and it still isn't out, and has never been officially canceled.

Agreed! And that's why 3D Realms is bankrupt now. They thought they were smart by delaying, and delaying and telling the community "when it's done" but the joke's on them! And who would want to hire somebody from 3D Realms now? They've got the slowest team in the world! "Johnson when will that model be ready?" "WHEN IT'S DONE SIR".

What a fucken joke, i remember i wanted it so bad when it was announced for the gamecube a long ass time ago LOL. Some developers out there can work wonders in 2 years and these guys take 13 fucken years and they cant get a game out. No game is worth that much time in development, no game. No matter what, it would have never lived up to 13 years in development.
