I used to think adding more weight every week was the only way to make progress but i eventually realized my form was getting worse and I wasn't even feeling the target muscle anymore.

Once I dropped the weight a bit and focused on slower, cleaner reps, my lifts actually improved over time.

It's kinda crazy how much better quality reps can be than just chasing numbers.

Real progressive overload is about moving more weight with the exact same clean execution, not adding plates at the expense of range of motion or control. Master the movement pattern first, leave reps in reserve (RIR) to keep form tight, and only earn the right to go heavier once the target muscle is actually doing all the work.

I completely agree with this. I used to think adding more weight every week was the only way to grow but once I started focusing on my form and really feeling the target muscle, my progress got way better.

Strength still matters, but good execution should always come first imo.

I agree with the balance here. For compounds I dont think every rep has to look like a textbook demonstration, especially when you're pushing strength, but there should still be some control. Isolation work is where I really notice this. Drop the weight a bit and suddenly the muscle is doing way more work. Ego lifting can be sneaky lol.
