External hard drive with PS3?

I gotta 320gb external hard drive with stuff on it, (videos, some music,) i hooked it up to my ps3 but i see nothing, no link, or icon to access it.
is there some way i can get it to recognize my external hard drive?

nvm, i got my old 100gb formatted with fat32, didnt know you couldnt use ntsf..

Remember to name all the folders correctly or the PS3 wont recognize anything.

you can also replace the internal with a 2.5' laptop hard drive the highest ive seen is 750gb

It actually doesn't. What you can do is when you connect an external HDD if you select it under music or video or whatever and press triangle, then select "Display All" everything will show up.
