RX Muscle’s latest Ask Dave episode, hosted by Dave Palumbo, dives deep into one of the most serious problems facing bodybuilders today — fake gear. With legitimate pharmaceutical products becoming harder to find, counterfeit steroids are flooding the market. Dave lays out what’s really happening, how to protect yourself, and what smart lifters should do to stay safe and keep progressing.

Dave starts the show by answering a question about how long men should stay off-cycle before going back on. His advice is simple: give your body at least eight weeks. Long-acting testosterone esters stay active in your system for up to four weeks after your last shot, so cutting the break short is pointless. He explains that being “off” for longer isn’t just detoxing — it actually helps your androgen receptors reset, making your next cycle more effective.

He also clears up confusion about post-cycle therapy. Most people should use hCG for two weeks, then Clomid or Nolvadex for another two. Around week five, expect to feel low energy — that’s normal. Everyone’s recovery time is different, and Dave notes it can take months for testosterone levels to stabilize depending on genetics and how long you’ve been cycling.

The discussion shifts to bloodwork. Dave says both men and women need to check the same key markers: kidney function, liver enzymes, cholesterol, blood glucose, A1C, red blood cell count, and thyroid levels. The only difference is women should also monitor progesterone and estrogen. He warns against wasting money on “fancy” panels that don’t provide useful data.

Later, Dave talks about the growing use of GLP-1 weight loss drugs. He warns that while these medications curb appetite, they can slow digestion so much that users risk severe constipation. His fix is simple: keep eating your scheduled meals and take fiber twice daily. “If you skip meals and don’t take fiber, you’re going to regret it,” he says.

On the training side, Dave reminds viewers to keep off-season cycles simple — one test compound and one anabolic at a time, rotated every six weeks. He recommends pairing Test with EQ, Deca, or Tren, depending on your goals, and saving short esters like Winstrol or Anavar for pre-contest phases.

One of the most interesting topics in this episode is his explanation of “athletic heart.” Many lifters panic when doctors tell them their hearts are enlarged, but Dave explains that heavy lifting naturally thickens the heart wall — it’s an adaptation, not damage. As long as you’re symptom-free and clear on a cardiac CT scan, you’re fine.

Finally, Dave addresses the growing concern over fake gear. With supply chains tightening and tariffs hitting imports, more people are forced to use underground labs. He warns that over half of growth hormone and Anavar products on the black market are fake. His solution: use drug test kits. These kits can confirm whether a vial actually contains the drug it claims to, though MCT oil can sometimes interfere with identifying esters. For about $20, it’s a small price to pay for safety.

He closes the show by urging bodybuilders to maintain at least a legitimate TRT prescription through a clinic. That ensures access to real pharmaceutical testosterone if the underground market dries up completely.

This episode is classic Dave Palumbo — no hype, no fluff, just real advice for serious lifters. If you want to understand how to run cycles smarter, protect your health, and avoid fake gear that could ruin your progress, this one’s worth a full watch.

I’ve heard that anyone who does that on this site gets pulled off the site and banned.

It's almost impossible to find legit sh*t. Hell I'll be honest I got in her TOO look for a legit avenue, after my dude moved and the days of gorilla pharm are seemingly over. Ordered some sh*t, knotted me up like crazy not long ago, good thing I always trained hard and maintained reasonable gains. But tren, jeez. Almost impossible to get, especially oral based liquid. Last I saw that was 2009. Probably got risk it at the gym, make some rounds eventually. Which is a club people are seemingly open about but won't disclose to just anyone.
