Game show on tv: Deal or No Deal

I am amused with this game show because the farther you go, the lower the prize will be. It’s something like you have to quit when your bank gets a good deal of money. But what is a good deal of money to you? In the local version, 100k is good enough, it is equivalent to 4 months salary. But contestants seemed to be lured to the bigger prize such that they continue playing until their bank suffers. It’s really sheer luck to win a million so contestants should aim for a smaller prize that would be substantial.
