Gertrude Ederle, an excellent swimmer

The first woman to cross the English channel is Gertrude Ederle. She is an American swimmer and Olympic champion. She also used to hold 5 records in swimming. But her immortality came from her feat in swimming alone to be the first woman to cross the English Channel. Now there are more than 2,000 swimmers who have crossed that Atlantic divide but Ederle’s name will remain in history.

Well that name alone is a little intimidating, and then you see her swim and it is something. I am sure that we are not done seeing her on the big stage and it should be fun to watch down the road here.
