Great boxer: Flash Elorde

The longest reigning junior lightweight in the world for 7 years with 10 successful defenses, Gabriel Elorde, nicknamed Flash Elorde, is considered the greatest Filipino boxer before the arrival of Manny Pacquiao. Elorde tried the heavier division by fighting lightweight champion Carlos Ortiz but he failed when Ortiz stopped him twice. It was just sad that Elorde became a chain smoker and at the young age of 49, he died of lung cancer. .

Well anyone with the name of Flash is usually enough to get my excitement up. I am not sure that I have ever heard of this man but now I am very curious and will have to do some reading up on him.
