Powerlifting History Made: Heather Connor Reclaims IPF Gold with New World Records

On June 8, 2025, at the IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships in Chemnitz, Germany, Heather Connor reclaimed her throne in the 47kg women’s division. After a six-year gap since her last world title in 2019, she delivered a record-breaking performance, setting new IPF raw world records in both deadlift and total.

U47KG Deadlift World Record: 212.5 KG (468.5 LBS)

Connor’s deadlift dominance was the centerpiece of the competition. From her 195kg opener, she jumped to 205kg with ease. But the final pull, a 212.5kg (468.5lbs) sumo deadlift, was the clincher. Under immense pressure following Tiffany Chapon’s failed lift, Connor secured both the world title and a new IPF raw deadlift world record.

Previous Record: 200kg, also held by Connor New Record: 212.5kg – 4.5x bodyweight
This lift wasn’t just about numbers. It was an iconic moment—power, mental grit, and legacy combined into one brutal, victorious rep.

U47KG IPF Total World Record: 435 KG (959 LBS)

In addition to her signature lift, Connor set a new U47KG total world record, eclipsing the 2024 mark set by Jessica Espinal (433.5kg). Here's how she got there:

Heather now holds both the IPF raw deadlift and total records in the 47kg class. She becomes a 3x IPF World Champion — 2017, 2019, and now 2025.

Career Stats and Comeback Legacy

Heather Connor’s return to dominance is no accident. With 31 sanctioned meets and 20 wins, she’s one of the most successful light-class female powerlifters in modern IPF history. After a string of podiums without gold, 2025 marked her redemption—a return not just to form, but to undisputed greatness.

Her technical precision, unmatched deadlift leverage, and refusal to settle make her the standard in lightweight women's powerlifting.

Why Heather Connor Matters to Powerlifting

  • Technical Mastery: Flawless execution under pressure
  • Pound-for-Pound Strength: Lifting more than 4.5x bodyweight in deadlift
  • Historical Impact: Multiple-time world champion and record-setter
  • Inspiration: A role model for women and lightweight lifters globally
