Hiking boots

Do you wear hiking boots when you go on a hike in the woods? I asked this because I have noticed some young people in their rubber shoes hiking or climbing mountains. The hiking boots is a good protection against animal bites particularly snakes. Besides, the hiking boots is more comfortable to the feet especially if the leather leggings is soft. And unless the boots is ill-fitting then you can enjoy more the hike in the woods instead of wearing rubber shoes.
