«Союз-31» — пилотируемый космический полет транспортного пилотируемого космического корабля Союз на орбитальную станцию "Салют - 6". Это был третий космический полет организованный в рамках международной программы космических полетов "Интеркосмос" и первый с участием космонавта гражданина ГДР. Экипаж старта: Командир корабля — Быковский Валерий Фёдорович, космонавт-исследователь — Йен, Зигмунд Вернер Пауль(ГДР - Германская Демократическая республика). Дублирующий Экипаж: Командир — Горбатко Виктор Васильевич; космонавт-исследователь — Кёльнер, Эберхард (нем. Köllner, Eberhard) (ГДР). Soyuz-31 was a manned spaceflight of the Soyuz manned transport spacecraft to the Salyut 6 orbital station. It was the third spaceflight organized as part of the international Intercosmos spaceflight program and the first involving a cosmonaut from the GDR. Launch crew: Spacecraft commander — Valery Fedorovich Bykovsky; research cosmonaut — Sigmund Werner Paul Jähn (GDR - German Democratic Republic). Backup crew: Commander — Viktor Vasilyevich Gorbatko; research cosmonaut — Eberhard Köllner (German: Köllner, Eberhard) (GDR). Soyuz-31 fue un vuelo espacial tripulado de la nave de transporte Soyuz a la estación orbital Salyut 6. Fue el tercer vuelo espacial organizado como parte del programa internacional Intercosmos y el primero en el que participó un cosmonauta de la RDA. Tripulación de lanzamiento: Comandante de la nave: Valery Fedorovich Bykovsky; cosmonauta investigador: Sigmund Werner Paul Jähn (RDA - República Democrática Alemana). Tripulación de reserva: Comandante: Viktor Vasilyevich Gorbatko; cosmonauta investigador: Eberhard Köllner (RDA). Пуск космического корабля "Союз - 30" произошёл 26 августа 1978 года в 14:51:30 с космодрома Байконур в Казахстане. Начиная с первого витка космонавты начали подготовку к стыковке со станцией «Салют-6», а с 2 часов ночи следующих суток В. Быковский и 3. Йен отдыхали. Экипаж «Союза-31» приступил к работе в 11 часов. В сеансе связи с Центром управления полетом, доложили что все бортовые системы корабля работают нормально и экипаж продолжает работы по программе. В 19:37:37 корабль «Союз-31» состыковался с орбитальной станцией. В 22 часа 33 минуты совершился переход на станцию 3. Йен, а за ним и В. Быковского. Йэн и Быковский оставались на станции до 3 сентября 1978 года. И приземлились с помощью возвращаемой капсулы корабля Союз-29.
The Soyuz-30 spacecraft was launched on August 26, 1978, at 2:51:30 PM from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Beginning with the first orbit, the cosmonauts began preparations for docking with the Salyut-6 station, and from 2:00 AM the following day, V. Bykovsky and Z. Yen rested. The Soyuz-31 crew began work at 11:00 AM. In a communication session with Mission Control, they reported that all onboard systems were operating normally and the crew was continuing work according to the program. At 7:37:37 PM, the Soyuz-31 spacecraft docked with the orbital station. At 10:33 PM, Z. Yen transferred to the station, followed by V. Bykovsky. Yen and Bykovsky remained at the station until September 3, 1978. And they landed with the help of the return capsule of the Soyuz-29 spacecraft.
La nave espacial Soyuz-30 fue lanzada el 26 de agosto de 1978 a las 14:51:30 desde el Cosmódromo de Baikonur en Kazajistán. Tras completar la primera órbita, los cosmonautas iniciaron los preparativos para el acoplamiento con la estación Salyut-6, y a partir de las 2:00 de la madrugada del día siguiente, V. Bykovsky y Z. Yen descansaron. La tripulación de la Soyuz-31 comenzó a trabajar a las 11:00. En una sesión de comunicación con el Control de Misión, informaron que todos los sistemas a bordo funcionaban con normalidad y que la tripulación continuaba trabajando según lo previsto.
