How do you strategically add partial reps to maximize gains?

I use them after completing full range sets to push a muscle further without compromising technique. Lengthened partials work well for hypertrophy because they keep the muscle under load at its most stretched position, where mechanical tension is highest.

I also program partial reps to address weak points in compound lifts or to overload ranges where I’m naturally stronger. I limit their frequency to avoid excessive fatigue and joint stress.

Two to three sessions per week using targeted partial rep work is generally enough for me. I keep my full range movements as the foundation and let partials serve a precise, supplementary role.
