I am still a heavy coffee drinker and, like most other drugs, your body gets used to the caffeine levels and then you have to have even more to get the same level of alertness. After 4 decades of drinking coffee, my coffee has gotten stronger and stronger and now it is basically triple strength and I drink a 32 oz cup every day. Normal brewed coffee has about 200 mg caffeine so mine had approximately 600 mg caffeine and I have 4 cups so that would be around 2.4 g caffeine a day.
As for it being doping, I don't think so. It doesn't promote anabolism or increase oxygen retention like EPO. It just makes you mentally more alert and increases heart rate and BP moderately.
