Okay this guy Robert Förstemann could put a lot of bodybuilders to shame with those quads.

Anybody think he ever did a leg extension in his life? All squats and probably heavy leg presses, using good form, with progressive overload to the point of using very high weight. The body must adapt.

(not to mention this guy probably doesn't eat the calories a bodybuilder does in a bulking phase, and he does do a large amount of high intensity cardio as well.)

I also liked seeing how big the quads were on the speed skaters in the winter Olympics. Very impressive!

Look at his arms at the third pic. He has a decent size overall, but quads are impressive!

Fucking AWESOME. Man I love big quads. He couldn't have gotten that from just bicycling though right?

Impressive, but let's not ignore genetics' role in their quad development coupled with training.

These guys are all sprinters of sorts... and generally like 100 Meter runners they are supposed be to be built for short distances with explosive power and explosive powe does requires extra bit of muscles!

Just like 100 meter runers will have very muscular built compared to long distance runners these guys have muscular built compared to say for instance Lance Armstrong and others doing Tour de France!

I've been told that he squats 240kg.

Very believable considering this:

Anna Meares - Australian and World Champ, 140kg squat at ~60kg

Not the deepest squat, but cyclists tend to be afraid of deep due to overuse problems with their knees (basically too much time spent in a squat position is bad for the knee, a position they hold for hours on end training).

Edit: found this one as well.
