Will Tennyson spent seven days removing what he called “modern-day poisons” from his life, including processed food, caffeine, artificial sweeteners, social media, alcohol, video games, excessive screen time, and plastic-heavy convenience products.

Before beginning, he completed a brain scan, recorded his weight at 188.3 pounds, and tracked his sleep, skin, energy, mood, and physical performance.

The first few days were difficult. He experienced headaches, irritability, cravings, boredom, and a strong urge to check his phone. Removing social media and entertainment made him realize how often he reached for digital stimulation without thinking.

His diet changed to mostly whole foods such as eggs, meat, fruit, vegetables, yogurt, potatoes, and homemade meals. Shopping became more difficult because many foods were packaged in plastic or contained ingredients he wanted to avoid. He also found it harder to eat enough calories because whole foods kept him full for longer.

As the week progressed, he reported several positive changes. His sleep scores improved, his daily energy became more stable, and his workouts remained strong even without caffeine. He also felt less bloated, noticed clearer skin, and said his joint discomfort improved.

One of the biggest changes was mental. Without social media, television, and constant phone use, his days felt longer and more productive. He started reading, walking, playing pickleball, spending more time outside, and becoming more present during meals.

By the end of the experiment, his weight had dropped to 186.2 pounds. He appeared leaner, his face looked less bloated, and his follow-up brain scan showed reduced activity in some of the previously overactive areas.

The main lesson was not that every modern product is automatically harmful. Instead, the challenge showed how strongly convenience, processed food, caffeine, and digital stimulation can influence attention, appetite, sleep, and daily behavior.

For Will, the seven-day reset made simple food, outdoor activity, reading, and uninterrupted time feel enjoyable again.
