IBF junior flyweight - Felix Alvarado vs. Reiya Konishi

Felix Alvarado will defend his IBF junior flyweight title against Reiya Konishi on May 18 in Kobe, Japan. Alvarado has a fight record of 34-2 and 30 KOs but he has a formidable win streak of 16 with 15 KOs. Japanese Konishi has a fight record of 17-1 and 7 KOs but will have the advantage of the hometown crowd in his favor.

Nicaraguan Felix Alvarado retained his IBF junior flyweight title by beating Japanese challenger Reiya Konishi by a lopsided unanimous decision with scores of 116-112, 118-110 and 117-111. It can be remembered that Alvarado became champion when he defeated Filipino Randy Petalcorin last year. In fairness to the challenger, Alvarado intimated his surprise for the strength of Konishi that he gave his best but the Japanese was still on his feet.
