Yo guys, need some advice here. Is 5x5 training still legit for building muscle today, or is it better to switch things up?

I know it’s solid for strength but what about putting on serious size? For those of you running 5x5, how’s your progress so far? Would you stick with it or go for higher reps and more volume? Drop your thoughts, bros. I’m tryna see what actually works in the gym.

5x5 is still solid, bro, especially for building a strength base. But if your main goal is size, I’d mix in some higher-rep work too. Compounds for strength, then accessories in the 8–15 rep range for more volume. Progressive overload and recovery are what really matter. No need to ditch 5x5 completely, just adjust it to fit your goals.

I ran 5x5 for a good while and it packed on size early since the heavy compounds and progressive overload do work, but once my gains slowed I got better growth from adding a few sets in the 8-12 range for the same muscles, so I’d start with 5x5 and mix in higher reps when it stalls.

I’d stick with it if your strength is going up, but eventually I'd add more volume for muscle growth. Personally I get bored doing the same rep range every workout anyway..
