When you put Derek Lunsford and Keone Pearson in the same gym, you get more than jokes and trash talk. You get a real glimpse into the future of the Olympia stage.

In this behind-the-scenes leg day session, the conversation quickly turns from “Best Arms at the Olympia” nominations to something bigger, 212 vs Open at the Mr. Olympia.

Derek, a former 212 Olympia champion who successfully moved up to the Open and won the biggest title in bodybuilding, brings experience. Keone, the reigning 212 king, brings momentum. The chemistry is real. So is the competitive edge.

Between heavy sets, they joke about:
  • Classic Physique weight caps
  • What it would take to return to 212
  • The possibility of becoming a multi-division champion
  • Calves, posing routines, and overall structure
But beneath the humor is a serious topic: Can a dominant 212 champion transition to the Open and contend?

Derek proves it’s possible. He moved from 212 to the Open division and didn’t just survive, he won. That blueprint now sits in front of Keone.

The training footage shows:
  • High-intensity leg presses and calf work
  • Competitive rep-for-rep pushing
  • Real-time critique and encouragement
  • Champion-level strength and conditioning
At one point they mention the combined titles in the room. Seven between them. That alone tells you this isn’t hype, it’s elite bodybuilding.

The big question remains:

Will Keone stay and dominate 212 long-term, or test himself against the giants in the Open division?

If this session is any indication, he has the structure, conditioning, and confidence to make it interesting.

Watch the full video and decide for yourself.
