I dont think the weight was an issue for him but the fact that he shifted in mid rep is what caused the injury.
This is an awesome vid. Its very inspiring. His doctor cant figure out how he is able to train the way he does post injury. Pure Will, Determination, and Commitment is probably how. He didnt just lay over and accept a possible career ending injury. Victors doctor said the same about him. Its amazing how bodybuilders and even other athletes will always find a way to adapt and make it happen if they are determined enough.

Same old problem for Marcus. His huge gut. If he can get that under control he has the potential to do quite well.
