In his latest video, Mark Lobliner doesn’t hold back — questioning why there seem to be no black influencers in the “science-based lifting” scene. He points out that most of the self-proclaimed training experts online are white, small, and over-reliant on technical jargon like RIR and RPE, despite barely looking like they train. He says many of these guys use "science" as an excuse for poor genetics and lack of effort.

Mark compares this to his experience training in predominantly black gyms, where the culture is built around intensity, effort, and pushing hard — not debating rep ranges and nervous system fatigue. He shouts out people like Kurt (Hulkzilla), who’s been calling out the same patterns, and shares how some of the best physiques he’s seen came from lifters who never overthought things — they just trained hard and consistently.

Lobliner closes by saying the obsession with “optimal” training has become a problem mostly seen in white lifters who are overthinking and undertraining. His message? Stop making excuses, train like a savage, and results will follow.

Quote of the video:

“Until you actually train to failure, you don’t know what one to two reps shy of failure even feels like.”
Agree? Disagree? Is science-based training making lifters weaker mentally and physically — or is Lobliner just stirring the pot? Let's hear it.
