I mean, compare the pricing...what are they? Combination of whey(usually concentrate, isolate at best) and bunch of maltodextrine(wich they are marketing as being complex carb, but acts as glucose, extremely insulinogenic).
And if you compare the price of combining the "gainer" on your own, and buying components separatley, it comes cheaper+you get convinience of using it any time. For instance, usual weight gainer(high carb cca 70%) has no use besides around the training.
And if you had all the components separatley, you could use whey whenever you want.
So, weight gainers based on high carb content - absolute NOT!
the best one i've used is cytogainer by cyto-sport. another good tasting weight gainer i've used is true mass by bsn. I really would only use protein powders as a "supplement" to a good mass gaining diet.
I couldn't have said it better myself, i would like to add beef, and make 3/4 of your diet so 4 or 5 meals be solid meals, you will get much larger off of solid food than liquids.
Its funny but hypos post was great advice, funny bc it was one words thats all i mean by that.
