Nadal Academy scholar earns first pro titlein ITF tournament

Alex Eala of the Philippines recently won her first title in the professional league of International Tennis Federation Manacor event in Spain. After a grueling first round that went to Yvonne Cavalle-Reimers of Spain, Eala was able to breeze through in the succeeding 2 sets. Eala won in 3 sets of 5-7, 6-1, 6-2. Eala is only 15 years old and ranked 3rd in the world as a junior before she turned pro this year. Rafael Nadal is proud of his protégé and is expecting Eala to win more titles this year.

After her first pro title, Alex Eala is on the loose again in Mallorca, Spain where the 2nd leg of the W15 Manacor Tournament is being held. Eala prevailed with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 win over Mirjam Bjorklund of Sweden in the 1st round of the 2nd leg. The tournament is part of the Rafa Nadal Academy of World Tennis Tour. Although the seeding was not revealed but it is assumed that Eala is a favorite to enter the finals of this 2nd leg. She will meet either a German or Spaniard in the second round of the tournament.

Alex Eala of the Philippines is on a roll with her wins. After disposing of 2nd seed Mirjam Bjorklund of Sweden in the 1st round, Eala defeated Spain’s Alba Carillo Marin 6-2, 6-3 in the 2nd round of the 2nd leg of the W15 Manacor Tournament. Eala is now entered in the quarterfinals. The Rafa Nadal Academy where Eala is a scholar is proud of their student for achieving star status in the pro league.
