Natalia Silva Defeats Wang Cong to Become UFC Flyweight Champion at UFC 332

Natalia Silva has now officially attained the top position in the UFC women's flyweight division.

At UFC 332 on October 3, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the Delta Center, the Brazilian fighter beat Wang Cong by unanimous decision in the main event and thus won the vacant UFC women's flyweight title.

Silva secured the five-round contest with scores of 48-47, 48-47 and 49-46, thus extending her impressive winning streak and making herself the new queen of the 125-pound division. This win also marked Silva's ninth consecutive victory in the UFC and her 15th win in a row in total.

Natalia Silva Wins UFC 332 Main Event

When Silva entered UFC 332, she was the top-ranked women's flyweight contender and one of the highest-ranked fighters on the UFC roster. She had a winning streak of 14 fights leading up to her first UFC title bout, whereas Wang entered with four consecutive victories in the UFC.

The situation was particularly serious since Valentina Shevchenko had left the women's flyweight title because of an injury that stopped her from continuing to hold it. As a result, Silva and Wang had to compete at UFC 332 for undisputed status.

Instead of using one weapon, Silva made use of her speed, movement, and accurate strikes to take control of a large part of the fight; she always kept Wang on the move as he tried to find her target while at the same time creating openings with a series of combinations and different types of attacks.

Wang, who was known for her impressive ability and combative approach, had difficulty in setting up a steady offensive in the early rounds, since Silva's movement enabled her to control the pace and stop Wang from gaining continuous momentum.

Silva Takes Control Early

Brazilian seemed to gain the upper hand in the first part of the match, since her footwork and capacity to launch attacks from various angles made it hard for Wang to settle into her usual rhythm.

A significant point occurred in the second round when Silva delivered a clear head kick, which clearly disturbed Wang. Rather than let Wang get used to a striking exchange, Silva kept varying her attacks.

The tactical method turned out to be important during the next five rounds. Silva was not merely aiming for a knockout; instead, she was building a lead by means of accuracy, movement, and activity while making Wang have to chase the fight.

By the time the third round had ended, Silva seemed to have secured a substantial advantage.

Wang Cong's Late Comeback Falls Short

Wang Cong refused to disappear.

In the championship rounds, the Chinese player became more aggressive and started to have more opportunities to carry out her attacks. Her late push made the final rounds considerably more competitive and gave her a chance to affect the judges' scorecards.

Yet Silva kept her calm and carried out actions that kept her ahead.

At the time when the final bell rang, the judges decided unanimously to award the fight to Silva, two of them giving it a score of 48-47 and the third awarding Silva a wider margin of 49-46.

The win represented a significant achievement for Silva, since he had never before fought for a UFC title when he took part in the main event at UFC 332.

A New Era Begins at 125 Pounds

Silva's victory is significant since it doesn't merely add another win to her record; she has now positioned herself as the undisputed UFC women's flyweight champion and is about to face a division full of possible challengers.

Her record in the UFC is now 9-0, and her overall winning streak has extended to 15 fights in a row. As she progressed towards winning the title, Silva accumulated an impressive record that comprised wins against former UFC champions Jessica Andrade, Alexa Grasso, and Rose Namajunas.

The fact that she has won the championship also gives the UFC a number of interesting possibilities for the next phase of the women's flyweight division.

Who would Natalia Silva fight next?

The most prominent figure associated with the division is the former champion, Valentina Shevchenko.

Shevchenko did not lose the championship while in the Octagon since she was obliged to give up the title on account of injury, which would make a future match between Silva and Shevchenko a natural storyline should Shevchenko return healthy.

Alexa Grasso is also a possible challenger, since Silva has already beaten Grasso, but she has nevertheless kept on building her record with wins against Maycee Barber and Manon Fiorot.

Erin Blanchfield and Jasmine Jasudavicius are also people worth watching, since their forthcoming fight could have important consequences for the title picture. Manon Fiorot, Casey O'Neill, and other top contenders might also become involved.

What's next for Wang Cong?

Even though Wang Cong lost the main event at UFC 332, she still remains a firm contender in the flyweight division.

She had a four-fight winning streak in the UFC when she entered the fight and displayed resilience by fighting through the championship rounds against Silva. Another fight against a similarly ranked opponent might provide Wang with a chance to regain some momentum and put herself in a position to launch another title campaign.

It could be reasonable to consider pairing up the contenders who have just lost against one another as the division reorganizes after UFC 332.

Natalia Silva Is the New UFC Flyweight Champion

The win by Natalia Silva against Wang Cong signifies the start of a new phase in the UFC women's flyweight division.

Because of her speed, her ability to move quickly, her technical striking, and her increasing experience in competition against top-level opponents, Silva is now in a position to establish the next era at 125 pounds.

The main event at UFC 332 was competitive, but it was Silva's performance over the five rounds that finally saw her beat Wang. Having spent years working their way up the rankings, Silva now has the championship belt as a result.

It is now clear whether or not Natalia Silva should be considered part of the UFC's elite.

She is the current champion.
