A new study challenges the old myth that you can’t target belly fat. Researchers split participants into two groups: one did steady-state cardio, while the other alternated treadmill intervals with ab exercises like crunches and torso twists.

The result? The interval + ab group lost significantly more belly fat.

Why it may work: Training your abs increases blood flow and depletes glycogen in the core, “priming” it. Then, cardio kicks in and mobilizes fat. Because the area’s already been activated, the body pulls more fuel (fat) from that region. Basically, you're setting the stage to burn fat right where you worked.

How to apply this: Try rotating 2–3 rounds of cardio (like treadmill sprints) with ab work (crunches, twists, etc.) instead of just steady-state cardio.

🚫 But don’t forget — none of this matters if your diet sucks. No shortcuts to abs if you’re still eating like crap.
