well i think that depends, if Fedor signs then he's getting a direct shot (to unify the belts) otherwise; maybe Arlovski, Vera/Sylvia seems kinda unlikely the more logical would be winner of Cro Cop/Nog (if Cro Cop will get past Kongo) but the Nog/Cro Cop fight is a whiles away still, as would be the wait for a Sylvia/Vera winner...i would guess the UFC is counting on Fedor to take the shot, or the only other guy i can see taking a shot in the next 3-4 months is Arlovski...id love to see that fight by the way

nogs first fight in the ufc was difficult to watch, as was crocops. I think right now, they're gonna give it to arlovski. He's won his last two fights, and the other main contenders are entangled in other matches at the moment. Ofcourse this might all change if fedor comes in and they have a unification bout as his first match.

Babalu vs Heath...Babalu destroyed him, and also held an anaconda choke like 5 seconds after Heath tapped...

Babalu was fined like $25,000 though :D

dont they fine fighters who continue on with a match despite having an injury?

I'm sure Randy will say he didn't know it was broke as where Arlovski said he knew he was hurt but chose not to report it.

then again, I think they may have let it slide if he might have won

Dana White has confirmed some noteworthy items in the beginning of today's UFC 75 media conference call:

-Renato "Babalu" Sobral was released from his contract due to the incidents that happened during his UFC 74 bout against David Heath. Dana White again talked about how it would of been worse had Babalu had an arm, leg or ankle. Still, Dana feels the fans turned on him and said he is out of his contract and out of the company due to his actions.

-A caller asked Dana White if the PRIDE 205 lb. belt would be defended after this upcoming champion vs. champion fight at UFC 75. Dana said it wouldn't. He said this is a unification bout and the winner will be the undisputed champion. I guess the UFC belt will represent that and the PRIDE belt will become nothing more than another trophy to keep at your house.

-Dana was asked if Dan Henderson would get an immediate title shot against Middleweight champion Anderson Silva if he were to decide to drop down to 185 lbs. after his bout with Rampage. Dana said he'd have to see what the MW division looks like when/if that were to happen, but that Hendo would still be number one or two in that division immediately.

We're just getting warmed up. Keep it locked to MMANews.com today for the fastest updates from the UFC 75 media conference call.

I dont know, babalu is a colorful character, I think its a bit much.

I mean most fighters try to get as many licks in when they knock their opponent out, til the referee steps in. Thats more harmful than what he did. Also consider that heath called him a motherfucker during the weigh-ins to add to his fire.

And since pride is officially dead, this isnt really a unification bout, its just hendo getting a title shot. Plain and simple.

its not really a unification bout since rampage has no new title to gain. The pride belts mean nothing now since pride has been declared officially dead by white.

So this is literally just hendo getting a title shot in a new organization and nothing more.

uhh no...whoever wins the fight will be the undisputed champion, which is represented by the UFC belt...even though PRIDE is gone, it doesnt matter, Hendo didnt lose the title, despite the organization no longer being alive, hes still a champion....otherwise it wouldnt be champion vs champion
