I'm strongly considering snapping up a 360 at this point, but a serious lack of time is my main concern.

That being said, GOW and the upcoming Mass Effect easily justify a purchase of said console on their own merits.

What's the dig on backwards-compatability with original X-Box games?

You have to get the darkness, it's by far the best and most amazing game i've ever played.

I think Timeshift was supposed to come out last year, but they delayed it because they felt it needed a lot of improvement. Good thing too, because now it's looking pretty sweet.

Sierra could make this a heavy two for two, considering the hit that FEAR was.

This still doesn't make up for the fact that they pooped out something like 37 of those freaking 'King's Quest' games. I don't care about talking to the ants so I can get the pie with the silver key inside to take to the king. King can get his own freaking pie:disgust:

It looks like it'll play like max pain. Its a filler game, not a big game to get excited about. I probably won't buy it. Heavenly Sword demo is out in a few days.

Yeah i know but it looks like it got a lot of action so i'll probably get it if the demo is good.

And it looks like you don't have to reload your guns like the movie lol.

Clive Barkers Jericho

A spectacular, creative, and unflinching realisation of a Clive Barker nightmare for next-gen console platforms and PC, Clive Barker’s Jericho is a new supernatural horror concept with story by the master mythmaker, novelist and filmmaker Clive Barker.

Jericho deals with the mysterious reappearance of a lost city in a remote desert. When a form of evil that goes right back to the dawn of days resurfaces from there, a Special Forces squad, trained in both conventional warfare and the arcane arts, is sent in. Their mission: Hunt down and destroy the evil that lurks at the heart of the city before it destroys humanity.

Clive Barker’s Jericho is designed as an action horror title that will up the stakes in visuals and phantasmagorical special effects. Mingling the darkest elements of Barker’s horror fiction and films with an ambitious, age-spanning story, aimed at mature gamers, fans of Clive Barker and horror fiction enthusiasts.

Yep, I've been watching it for some time now. Absolutely jaw-dropping graphics compared to everything else out there atm.

Lots of videos here: http://media.pc.ign.com/media/694/694190/vids_1.html

Better quality on the second page of them because the first ones were recorded off-screen.

more info on GTA4.....HOLY SHIT at the things you can do in this game.. wow.

http://games.kikizo.com/news/200707/115_p01.asp

highlights from the article.

Demo is running on Xbox 360.

PS3 version is a couple of weeks behind.

Framerate is good and improved since the last trailer.

It looks awesome.

In game music will span many genres and decades.

All NPC's are animated differently (fat cop is given as an example).

Each street is individually named, complete with street signs.

The is an internet cafe named "TW@"

You can hail a cab by whistling.

One time when they hailed a cab, a pedestrian was hit by the cab and the animation looked totally rhombus.

You can either sit and relax in the cab for the whole journey, skip the trip, or pay the driver double to go twice as fast.

You can see and talk to the driver.

While riding in a cab, the camera view change every five seconds which shows off lots of detail inside the cab, the tyres, things passing by outside etc.

People in cars move due to momentum of braking and accelerating.

Player can change music track while in a cab.

Traffic noise sounds very realistic and responsive to volume of traffic, types of verhicles going past, even when inside a building.

Mirrors on vehicles actually reflect.

No loading between interior and exterior areas.

In the internet cafe you can use the internet for $1 per session. It is still being worked on, but it will include lots of fun and usefull stuff.

The cell phone works as a calender, organiser, messaging device and a camera, just like a real phone.

Characters can convey emotion with movements and facial expressions.

When driving, the camera is positioned slightly to the driver's side of the car. There are also other camera angles to choose from.

Draw distance is very good.

There is a GPS system in the car that can be used to drive to unknown locations.

"Texture and detail in the city is unquestionably the highest quality we've seen in any next-gen game in a realistic setting, bar none."

Bus stops, people on cell phones, real pedestrian conversations, roadworks and workers, functioning hot dog stands, flower boxes, individually modelled trash in bins etc etc.

Wanted level evasion is based on line of site and search radius. The cops have your description and last known position, and if they identify you within their search radius as shown on the map, they will continue to chase you.

You can buy new clothes. A $1000 suit and $200 shoes are given as examples. These are required for an interview so as not to raise suspicion.

In the interview mission, you must kill a videogame hating lawyer

You can take cover behind anything.

Lots of destructable environments, even down to 'walk/don't walk' signs on trafic lights.

They only saw about 1/16th of the whole map in this preview.

Awesome!

When we got to our objective location, we were given the cell phone number of the blackmailer by Francis, who suggested we call him in an effort to figure out who he was. As we surveyed the nearby environment and made the call, we noticed a man answer his phone. While he was chatting him up, Niko slowly walked closer to the man, then hung up to see if he was the right guy. As soon as the man closed his phone, Niko’s gun was out, and he strode confidently over to where the man was sitting on the bench. Our “hero” put his pistol to his target’s head and smoothly pulled the trigger.

Now, I’ve played all of the Grand Theft Auto titles, but I never felt the emotional impact of the violence as much as I did with this one. First off, the crack of the pistol shattered the relative silence of the scene, and all of the journalists in attendance let out a collective gasp (as well as an extended “Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn.”). Our target’s reaction to being shot was exaggerated and a bit unnerving, his head snapping back violently and blood gushing into the air as the crumpled to the ground. The game’s combat is quite intense (more on that in a bit), but somehow this execution-style killing disturbed us more than taking on a bunch of cops.

^^^It sounds like they're really doing their homework on this one. I'm not really a fan of the genre, but it's always good to see such care and effort being put into a game.
