What's the difference between Crackdown and GTA from what you can see? I haven't looked at anything about it yet.

You're a cop in Crackdown, which is a huge plus from base one as far as I'm concerned.

GTA = Unorigional Garbage...in my opinion.

Between Gears of War, Lost Planet, and Dead Rising, I'm getting a disturbingly large number of reasons to snap up an X-Box360.

Lost planet isn't good at all it's way overhyped, i've played the demo and it's very boring and the controls is just weird.


The best shooting games for 360 is IMO Gears of war and Rainbow six vegas (im getting rainbow tomorrow)

I got my Zelda playing device a few days ago and i think out of all the next gen systems, the PS3 has the most promise. So far, Zelda has lived up to the hype. I feel like a kid playing OT on the n64 again. Not all that into the controller though.

I see the Wii winning the "console wars" for the next few years. Once the Wii has ran its course, the PS3 will take over.

The Wii's broad-base appeal virtually ensures that Nintendo will be top dog for a couple of years. They've blown a serious lead before though; think Goldeneye on the 64.

That's what I'm seeing. The initial hype and fanfare had it running strong, but it looks like the gameplay itself is little more than a glorified session of connect-the-dots.

Good call on the Rainbow Six-Vegas though Spike; I hear that's amazing. How has it treated you so far?

Jade Empire finally hit the PC, and HALO2 is rumored for a summer release. Now all we need is Gears of War

Rumor has it that details from Phil Harrison's upcoming speech at the Games Developer Conference have been discovered by folks at the Neoseeker forums. Even though this is just a "rumor" we'll entertain you with the details.

Let's start with the firmware upgrade:

-More refined PS Store front end
-Playstation Network integrity enhanced
-Wallpapers from pictures
-Ability to change background colors
-Sony Connect Store added to the PS Store
-Playstation Card option in PS Store enabled
-Playstation Lifestyle (user-generated content)

Allegedly, Sony is planning to remove the Emotion Chips from all future consoles to cut costs and use software emulation for backward compatibility and to upscale PSone and PS2 games to High Def.

There is also new content listed here to be released on the PS Store March 8th:

-Tekken 6 trailer
-Lair demo & trailer
-Rainbow Six Vegas demo
-EA: Skate trailer

Apparently, it's been virtually the only 'GTA clone' that's done quite well in the face of having that title. It was hitting the top of the charts for a few months there on sales, then maintaining a steady pace after the initial rush was over to boot.

It has its differences. Loads of celebrites have voice overs in it. It's cool to deal crack to people, then shoot them and take it back

Craziness.....

The 'GTA clone' moniker others gave it applied to the gameplay and overall design more than anything else, but I feel the GTA franchise sucks.

Seems like everyone is digging GOW2 though; it's only real knock has been that it's a little 'been there, done that.' Doesn't stop it from raking in perfect or near-perfect scores though. Opinions?

Windows Live Messenger interoperability:

* Add up to 600 Windows Live Messenger contacts to your Xbox Live's Friends List.
* Basic text chat functionality with Windows Live Messenger users. Audio and video might be in the works.
* You'll be able to chat with up to 6 friends online while playing games or watching movies.
* Your Windows Live Messenger contacts will know which games you are playing, as well as your gamertag.
* You'll see your Friends status, whether they are playing a game on Online on Windows Live Messenger.

Xbox Live Marketplace:

* Xbox Live Marketplace will now have its own blade.
* The XBL Marketplace blade can have its own skin, independent of the dashboard's theme.
* The XBL Marketplace blade will change looks depending on such events such a season, a holiday, etc.

Achievements:

* When you unlock a new achievement, the pop up will show which Achievement you got and how many points you earned.

Downloads:

* Auto-shutdown: When enabled, it turns off your console after 6 hours on inactivity or after all the items in the queue were downloaded.
* Low-power downloading mode: it turns off all your fans when you leave the console downloading content.
* View partially downloaded movies: self explanatory; you can view parts of a movie that have been downloaded.
