Are there any differences besides size? Glad I have waited this long for it. $299 isn't that bad of a price for it as long as it still has blue ray, and built in wi-fi.

they removed the linux thing.... you cant install linux to it now.. afaik thats the only difference

Of course it'll still have Blu-Ray. If it didn't, it would be useless as the games all come on blu-ray discs.

The Slim also uses less power, so, in the long run it'll cost less. The slim comes with a 120g HDD.

I thought of that after I wrote it. But what i was getting at was, all the same features? Chewie answered some of it. The linux part was pretty nice but i bet you could still do it.

No, linux has been taking off. You can't install any other OS on the PS3 fat or slim.
The slim just runs cooler, quieter and uses less power. Its also about half the weight.

well im picking up a friends at work tomorrow morning
40gb 7 games, 3 Wireless controllers, cables etc
270$ no tax, i think i gotta good deal regardless of the slim, anyway tax sucks.

Huge difference i have Ubuntu on mine and its great. Works with my wireless keyboard and mouse on the big screen plasma
