Raoni Barcelos Health Update After Scary UFC Vegas 121 Incident

Following a scary incident that took place during his main event match against Raul Rosas Jr. at UFC Vegas 121 in Las Vegas, Brazilian UFC bantamweight Raoni Barcelos has comforted his fans.

In the fifth round of their fight on September 26, 2026, the 39-year-old fighter lost consciousness and was then carried out of the Octagon before being taken to hospital for a medical examination.

After the incident, Barcelos gave a favourable update on his health, stating that he was feeling okay and that he was having medical tests. Nevertheless, the precise reason for his sudden collapse is still unknown.

Raoni Barcelos Provides Positive Health Update

After the incident, Barcelos spoke to his fans from his hospital bed and reassured them that he was doing well.

In a video that he posted on social media, the Brazilian fighter said that he was having the required medical examinations and thanked his supporters for their messages, prayers, and encouragement.

He also made it clear that he intended to get back into competition, vowing to return even stronger following that terrifying experience.

After sending this message, his head coach Davi Ramos had previously stated that Barcelos was conscious, capable of communicating, and could move his arms and legs.

The changes provided peace of mind to the fans who were worried about the veteran fighter's condition following the dramatic ending of the main event at UFC Vegas 121.

What happened to Raoni Barcelos at UFC Vegas 121?

The event took place in the fifth round of the bantamweight fight between Barcelos and Rosas Jr. at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

While they were engaged in a grappling contest close to the cage, Rosas managed to take Barcelos down, after which the Brazilian seemed to lose consciousness, causing referee Herb Dean to stop the fight at once.

Barcelos stayed on the canvas while the medical staff attended to him. He was then taken out of the Octagon on a stretcher and taken to a Level 1 trauma center.

Rosas won the fifth round by technical knockout at 1:38 in the round. The alarming conclusion took center stage and caused the main concern to become that of Barcelos' health and safety.

UFC Confirms Barcelos Was Stable After Hospital Evaluation

After the incident, the UFC issued an official statement stating that Barcelos had been taken to a Level 1 trauma center for further evaluation.

The promotion stated that the Brazilian had a CT scan and underwent a full medical examination; he was found to be stable, alert, responsive, and able to move all his limbs.

The UFC has also stated that Barcelos will continue to be under medical supervision.

Davi Ramos, the fighter's coach, later told the fans that the fighter was conscious and communicating normally as he carried out further tests.

The fact was that Barcelos was in a stable condition after the incident, but further medical observation was still necessary.

What caused Raoni Barcelos to collapse?

It has not yet been made public what the exact reason is for Barcelos' sudden lapse of consciousness.

The coach later said that the fighter had neither had a stroke nor a heart attack, but stressed that the medical team was still awaiting further test results.

Although Barcelos said that he fainted, this account does not indicate the medical reason behind it.

Even though the collapse took place during a physical encounter with Rosas, the existing reports do not indicate if it was caused by the impact, some other matter connected with the fight, or a medical condition having nothing to do with the fight.

To establish what had taken place, further medical investigations would have to be carried out.

Will Will Raoni Barcelos return to the UFC?

Even though the experience was frightening, Barcelos remains optimistic regarding his future in mixed martial arts.

In his message to the fans, he admitted that they must have been disappointed at the loss but stressed that he meant to move on and come back stronger.

Before the stoppage, Barcelos had been leading on all of the judges' scorecards, and the loss ended his five-fight winning streak as well as breaking his strong sequence in the UFC bantamweight division.

His first concern at the moment is getting better, not giving a return date.

The cited reports have not stated any confirmed timetable regarding his return to competition as of September 30, 2026, and whether or not training or fighting resumes will be determined by the medical evaluation and clearance.

Latest Update on Raoni Barcelos' Health

Raoni Barcelos has reassured his fans that he is doing well following his collapse during the main event at UFC Vegas 121 against Raul Rosas Jr.

The UFC stated that he was stable, alert, and responsive following a CT scan and medical examination, and his coach also gave positive updates, with Barcelos thanking everyone for the support they had received.

Nevertheless, the cause of the incident has not yet been confirmed, and both his recovery and his possible return to the Octagon will have to wait until further medical evaluation has been carried out.

At the moment, the positive developments are encouraging, but long-term health and medical clearance still matter most regarding Barcelos.

It’s good to see Barcelos staying positive after such a scary ending, but I’m glad he’s focusing on getting checked out properly first rather than rushing to think about his next fight.

So glad to know he’s out of the hospital and already back with his family! I hope he takes all the time he needs to fully recover.
