I sometimes do this to warm up for real pull ups.

I have tried them before when I was about 200lbs...too heavy right now for me...awesome stuff though

We call them fat-boy pull-ups around here. I prefer to do them on a smith machiene because I can adjust it for my height better. Hard as hell to do these sometimes.

i just saw a vid of some lil' kid doing em'
interesting stuff, smith machine is the only way to do them in my gym tho...

You can also do them with a strong peice of rope tied to something. The rope hanging vertical that is.
