Relieve back problems with back traction

Hey

I have been having some serious back problems the last 2 months, The physical therapist Im getting worked on by since Monday last week says that Im having a slipped disc "at best" but with my symptoms its more likely to be a herniated disc. (I haven't got it x-rayed yet)
It hurts like hell even though I use 150mg diclofenac and 4g Paracetamol per day.

The problems I'm having is sciatica since the sciatica nerve is pinched and sometimes cramp in my glutes with some numbness down both of my legs, that with some soreness and stiffness obviously. I have been told I need to do some exercises to give traction to my spine, which will relieve the disc and let it heal faster. The therapist give my spine some traction using a inversion table, I use that before and after he has worked on me. According to him that might be enough to get my disc spinning again so to speak. Some serious core work is also needed I assume.

Is there any way I can get the same work done at home rather then go to him and rape myself financially? He has asked me to get a exercise ball "and embrace the woman in me" But he hasn't given me any exercises to do yet.

If someone has any tips I'd be really greatful.

Buy an inversion table; do pilates at home. You need an MRI to find out what's going on with your back.

DA you need to see someone properly versed in back problems. As long as I've known you you have had back issues, I think you need a specialist and proper treatment, not a therapist poking at you with a vague idea they are treating symptoms. Hope your health insurance is paid up (unless you live in one of those countries where that is all covered).

Hope your health insurance is paid up (unless you live in one of those countries where that is all covered).

I have been refered to this physical therapist by a doctor I have visited. He has worked with back related problems as herniation to discs and other back problems for a long time. He works with the local soccer team with the same kind of stuff. According to people I know that has been worked on by him, he knows his stuff.

After the therapist had a look at me he saw that I have a leg length inequality. My right leg is 2cm longer then the left. That was bound to cause problems sooner or later he said.
That combined with bad form while training and a to high bodyweight has given me these problem he recon.

My weight has always been a problem more or less..Im 270 at 15% bf atm, he recons I want to be at a healthy 230-235 max to not stress my back out like it is right now. Preferably he wants me to be 220. So losing weight is a big priority. Good thing Im already dieting, and have been doing so for 9 weeks.

About the health insurance, I dont think stuff like this isn't included under the health insurance..but I might be wrong..I?ll recheck it though

^^ I have orthodics to correct my leg length imbalance. Mine is only a very small difference but it was giving me shin splints when I ran. You may actually need special shoes made.

I asked him about doing something simular. He told me that my problem cant be corrected with different shoes since its a misalignment in my hips rather then actuall lenght difference. He had me doing 4 different core exercises to build my core up more. Then I was told to do more of the quad,ham,psoas stretches Im already doing, then next week on friday he?ll reasses if we need to change something.

I was also told (which I think is odd..) to add a new "homemade" supplement to my daily routine. He wants me to eat 10-15g/dag of turmeric and that then will get some more inflammation to go away.

**** i have some leg length imbalances aswell, i should look into that.
