In a significant development for the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GBBFF), Roger Callender has been elected as the new president during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Olympic House in Liliendaal on March 30, 2025. Callender, a seasoned competitor and trainer, secured a decisive victory with 20 votes over his opponent, Intiaz Satar, who received four votes. This election marks the conclusion of Keavon Bess's tenure, as he chose not to seek re-election.

The presidential race was the sole contested position at the AGM, with all other executive roles filled unopposed. The newly elected executive committee members are:

  • Vice President: Coel Marks
  • General Secretary: Romelton Siland
  • Treasurer: Shemina Peroune
  • Assistant Secretary-Treasurer: Intiaz Satar
  • Organising Secretary: Tariq Dakil
  • Executive Director: Keavon Bess
Committee members elected to serve a 24-month term include Kerwin Clarke, Yusif Khan, Anthony McLean, Errol Tekaram, Darious Ramsammy, Dwayne Mars, and Omar Satar.

Continuity and Recognition​

The previous executive's term was extended by 12 months to ensure continuity during Guyana's hosting of the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Championships in 2024. Following the elections, Videsh Sookram was honored with Honorary Life Membership of the GBBFF, acknowledging his significant contributions to the sport. The AGM also approved financial reports from 2022 to 2024, including those related to the successful CAC Championships held in Guyana in 2024.
