:xyxthumbs:

Ryan Kennelly, 308, bench pressed 1,075 pounds on Saturday at the Pride Strength Wars in Kennewick, Washington. That moves his own all-time 308 class record up from 985 pounds and is the biggest bench press ever, regardless of weight class.

Benching benefits from lifting gear more than any other lift, AFAIK. Raw bench record is still somewhere around 800lbs.

edit: tkd posted it for us:

This 1075lbs lift is done with full gear (not to take credit away, it's still fucking impressive).

Just for the pleasure of discussing. What you guys think about all those PL federations with different rules and about shirt/wraps/straps in PLing?

Of course we need INTERNATIONAL standard rules for making good comparisions...

besides in aiding with the lift, does the gear also help reducing injury?...

I believe it offers very little safety benefit. The main thing is to keep good form at all times.

With higher weight then your lifting should be less erratic.

true, forgot about the more weight the balancing gets a little easier.
just wondering, having that much weight fall on you = instant death

Balancing is harder in a shirt because of the groove you need to stay in. This is a video of Kennelly a while back getting way out of his groove. You can see from the beginning of the 1080 attempt he was very unstable.
