Ted Kennedy Dies of Brain Cancer at Age 77

Sen. Ted Kennedy died shortly before midnight Tuesday at his home in Hyannis Port, Mass., at age 77.


Democratic senator led Kennedys after the assassinations of his two brothers.

The man known as the "liberal lion of the Senate" had fought a more than year-long battle with brain cancer, and according to his son had lived longer with the disease than his doctors expected him to.

"We've lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism, and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever," the Kennedy family said in a statement. "He loved this country and devoted his life to serving it."

Yeah, he did. It's pretty disgusting how he's being portrayed as a "great american who loved his country almost as much as he loved his family" and blah blah blah...

He was a scumbag. He claimed he was providing the woman a ride back to her hotel, yet she left her hotel key at the party, and the accident was the complete opposite direction of her hotel. He was driving home piss drunk with a woman he was having an affair with, headed in the direction of Kennedy's beach house.

Instead of reporting it immediately, he waited until the next morning to do so because he claimed he was in "shock". Yet, he had time to go back to the party that night and get two friends who were lawyers. He claimed that he got them to help in the search for her (yet, they didn't bother using the phone to call for help at the party), and make over a dozen calls that night to various aides, none to police.

I remember watching a doco about the Kennedy Clan. I was absolutely amazed at how deceitful and conceited the entire family seemed to be. I'm sure they did some wonderful things in office, but that's what they are paid to do. Being a decent human being is something you have to do for free and should be how you are measured as a person.
