Interesting topic. Most people don't realize that the purity of the final product depends way more on the quality of the raws and the filtration/sterilization process than on the brewing recipe itself.

The two biggest issues I see with home purification attempts:

recrystallization sounds straightforward on paper but if solvent ratios or cooling rates are off, you either lose yield or trap impurities inside the crystal structure instead of removing them
people skip melting point testing after 'purifying' and just assume it worked because the powder looks cleaner

For guys who aren't running an actual analytical lab, the safest bet is honestly just sourcing raws that already come with a third-party COA showing purity above 98-99%. Trying to fix bad raws at home is like trying to filter dirty water with a coffee filter and calling it safe to drink.

If you're going to attempt any kind of purification, at minimum you need accurate scales, proper solvents, controlled temperature, and ideally a melting point apparatus to verify results. Otherwise you're just guessing with extra steps.
