Out of all of those movies, I have only seen Dark Knight and Tropic Thunder. Are the rest that good? I just got the Wrestler and I heard that was pretty good. I guess we'll see.

the only reason Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie got nominated is so they'd actually show up to the awards show.

both of their movies sucked ass.

I'm more surprised a movie about wrestling is up there.

I don't think Dark Knight deserved a "best picture" nomination. Sure, it was the biggest blockbuster of the year, and it was pretty sweet, with some cool effects, but there were some holes and strange things in the plot. Line will speak up, I'm sure...

Yo Line, Wall-e should be an 8, right at the same category as the Wrestler.

DO NOT MAKE ME ANGRY LINE. YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE ME ANGRY

Best Actor
Richard Jenkins - The Visitor
Frank Langella - Frost/Nixon
Sean Penn - Milk
Brad Pitt - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Mickey Rourke - The Wrestler
WTF?!?!?!

Brad Pitt does a passable impersonation of Brad Pitt at times, but Best Actor?

Although he did actually act in some of his early films, just haven't seen anything recently (Snatch is an exception).

It very well could be an 8. My score for it fluctuates, as does any rating I give really and the last time I watched it I found it to be a bit simple in its handling of its themes. Of course, this is a constraint largely due to it being a family film, but the realization of its goals within the genre isn't enough to propel it above a film like The Wrester, for example. If it makes you feel better, they are neck-and-neck in my top films of the year.

what a joke. pitt's movie gets a nod even though it's nothing compared to TDK. it doesn't matter, the public know TDK was one of the best films of the year even if it's not nominated
