Why was the announcer saying it wasn't a world record?

Because now they take wind into account, since when did the wind at someones back matter. This has to be new don't remember them ever using that before.

it was an american world record i think. not a world record. the record he broke was maurice green's old one. the last two best world record times have been run by jamicans (powell, bolt)

meaning it is a record time on american soil run by an american.

that's what i've heard anyway. i have not heard any source, ESPN included, that said this time beats Bolt's current WR. i'm not fully sure why though.

that would make it an American Record... not an american World record.

Just pointing it out.

wiki ftw

Gay's 9.68 translates to 9.85, significantly slower than the adjusted world record of Asafa Powell's best corrected time of 9.79 (9.78 s; +0.0 m/s; 400 m Riete, Italy 9/9/07). Gay's 9.77 (+1.6 m/s) run also translates to 9.85 when corrected.

I wonder where it will end. I mean back in the day I think it was Paul Nash who broke the 10sec barrier and now it is what 9.69?

Does that mean that in about another 100 years the record will be at 0sec? You will see the guys at the start, the gun goes off and they are at the finish line.

Maybe that is a question for Einstein...

Good running anyway, wind or no wind. Maybe he visits Balco offices regularly?
