It is unexpected but it is now a reality that Stipe Miocic, the current UFC heavyweight champion will be facing number 1 contender Francis Ngannou in a championship bout on January 20. With 17 wins, 13 of which by knockouts, Miocic is a formidable champion with only 2 losses to the giant Stefan Struve and Brazilian Junior Dos Santos. On the other hand, has 11 wins and only 1 loss. His knockout power is his asset that many think will be a mountain for Miocic. It is a toss up in the odds.

UPdate on the result... UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic retained his belt for the 3rd time against challenger Francis Ngannou via a 5-round unanimous decision. The vaunted knockout punch of Ngannou was seen only in the first round and he looked spent entering the second round that gave Miocic the opportunity for a takedown in the succeeding rounds. And it was Miocic all the day.
