UFC light heavyweight championship in January

Daniel Cormier is the former UFC light heavyweight champion when he won the vacant championship against Anthony Johnson. The throne was vacated by champion Jon Jones who was suspended due to us of prohibited drugs. But after the suspension, Jones was able to reclaim the belt from Cormier via a knockout. It was the second loss of Cormier, the first one also courtesy of Jones. Unfortunately, Jones was again found to have used prohibited drugs and his win over Cormier was nullified. Now Cormier is facing Volcan Oezdemir as a defending champion once again. With 15 wins and only 1 loss, Oezdemir is a worthy challenger to for the UFC light heavyweight belt.

For the result - The first round was a close call between champion Daniel Cormier and Swiss Volcan Oezdemir. But in the second round, Cormier used his wrestling skills for a successful takedown and beating of Oezdemir. Seeing that Cormier was mauling the defenseless Oezdemir, the referee stopped the fight. It was Oezdemir’s second loss while Cormier was happy to regain the championship belt.
