UX Labs steroids were sold on several dark net marketplaces by Qu4ntum.
Three men who manufactured anabolic steroids under the UX Labs label have been indicted by a federal grand jury. Ronald Roginsky, John Ambrose and Eric Angle have been accused of selling anabolic steroids on various dark net marketplaces.
UX Labs products, such as testosterone enanthate and boldenone undecylenate, were widely sold by the dark net market vendor known as Qu4ntum. The steroid listings appeared on dark net marketplaces such as AlphaBay, Dream Market, Wall Street and Olympus Market.
Roginsky, Ambrose and Angle were allegedly the men behind the Q4ntum screenname. The three men were charged on four counts: conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, conspiracy to import controlled substances, distributing controlled substances by means of the Internet, and conspiracy to launder money.
UX Labs sold anabolic steroids via dark net marketplaces, clear net steroid forums and hand-to-hand transactions.
The UX Labs team utilized various means to protect their anonymity. This was not limited to using TOR to sell steroids on dark net marketplaces.
In addition, they used end-to-end encrypted voice calling applications to engage in live conversations with their customers. They used end-to-end encrypted messaging applications for private messaging (PMs). They demanded payment via cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.
However, the UX Labs team did not restrict their steroid sales to the dark net. They also advertised and sold steroids on steroid-related forums on the clear net. Customers paid via Bitcoin or “cash in mail” (CIM). But most alarmingly, the UX Labs team conducted hand-to-hand transactions with local customers.
The grand jury indictment did not provide details explaining exactly how the UX Labs team was busted. However, the bust involved a rather wide-ranging and multi-jurisdictional investigation. It involved various local and federal agencies including the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USIP), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigations (IRS) and the Medina County Drug Task Force.
