WBO interim bantam - John Riel Casimero vs. Cesar Ramirez

Filipino John Riel Casimero will face Cesar Ramirez for the WBO interim bantamweight title on August 24 in the territory of Casimero in Manila who is making the 1st defense of his belt. Casimero sports a record of 27-4 with 18 KOs while Ramirez from Mexico has a fight record of 18-3 and 11 KOs.

The fight was a long one with the exciting exchanges from both boxers. But Casimero seemed to have something more to offer when in the 11th round he was able to release a haymaker punch that sent Ramirez to the mat for a good night’s sleep. Retaining his interim title, Casimero is poised to face African Zolani Tete who is the WBO champion in the division. Tete was the supposed opponent of Nonito Donaire for the semifinals of the world boxing super series but he was pulled out due to injury.
