WBO women’s junior middleweight title - Claressa Shields vs. Ivana Habazin

Claressa Shields and Ivana Habazin will fight for the vacant WBO women’s junior middleweight title on October 5 at Flint, Michigan, the hometown of Shields. Habazin had moved to a higher division after losing to Cecilia Brakehaus. Shields is undefeated with 9 wins and 2 KOs while Habazin has 20 wins and 3 losses with 7 KOs.

It is unfortunate that the fight is cancelled due to the incident in the weigh-in. Bashir Ali, the trainer of Ivana Habazin was punched and knocked unconscious by a member of Shields’camp. Ali was sent to the hospital and was given security to prevent any untoward incident. Oh well, the fight is off to the jeopardy of the boxers.
