A pair of thick traps helps your physique seem more muscular. Shrugs are the exercises that must be performed in order to create such traps. This exercise requires just a shoulder movement to raise a weight. Dumbbell shrugs and barbell shrugs are the two most prevalent shrug methods. Dumbbell shrugs need simply two dumbbells, however barbell shrugs require either a straight barbell or a hex barbell, often known as a trap barbell.

Shoulder shrugs primarily target the trapezius muscles, which are placed on each side of the neck. These muscles are responsible for controlling the mobility of your shoulder blades, neck, and upper back.

Shoulder shrugs normally assist a person in maintaining an optimum back posture, which is defined by a pulled-back appearance of your shoulders. As a consequence, your neck and upper back are better supported. Furthermore, strong trapezius muscles allow you to go the additional mile while pushing, lifting, and bending, all of which are important actions and motions in the gym and in everyday life. For example, stronger trapezius muscles allow you to complete a deadlift more easily and add more weight to boost training intensity.

A trap bar, also known as a hex bar, is a hexagonal metal construction that enables you to climb into the center of the bar frame and grab the handles so that your arms stay vertically down. Hex bar shrugs, unlike standard barbell shrugs, do not need you to place the bar on the front or rear of your body.
