I've tried whey protein supplements mostly on post workout and it has great results, it really adds bulk and muscle. It also helps in building my physique specially my muscles. As per my instructor it could be taken before and after workout but it's best to take it afterwards.

I have heard mostly good things about whey protein, and the only downside of it - is taking to much of it, because it can cause nausea and headaches, but at moderate doses it's not considered dangerous. Some great positives include anti-cancer properties and lowering cholesterol and blood pressure. Also of course it promotes lean muscle mass as well.
