Jimmy Kolb reshuffled the powerlifting world record archive by surpassing his previous best bench press by an impressive 200 pounds.

A Landmark Moment in Powerlifting History

A new peak has been reached in the vast landscape of powerlifting history. The 2022 IPA Pennsylvania State Powerlifting Championships, held on Feb. 26-27, 2022, in York, PA, witnessed Jimmy Kolb forging a new page in the annals of powerlifting. Draped in a bench press shirt, Kolb positioned himself beneath a barbell weighed down with an awe-inspiring 598.7 kilograms (1,320 pounds), locked it out, and shattered the previous all-time world record bench press by a whopping 190.2 pounds.
Before this colossal lift, Kolb secured the third heaviest bench press of all time — a substantial 508 kilograms (1,120 pounds) lift — at the 2021 International Powerlifting Association (IPA) Strength Spectacular on June 26, 2021, as per Open Powerlifting. He astonishingly added an additional 90.7 kilograms (200 pounds) to his bench press in merely eight months.

A Record-Breaking Lift

Kolb's 598.7-kilogram (1,320-pound) lift is now the heaviest lift ever documented, surpassing the previous record — a 595-kilogram (1,311.8-pound) squat — set by Nathan Baptist at the 2021 United Powerlifting Association (UPA) Utah Kick Off Meet.
